Updated: 14 Jun 2006 Notes: In 1824, Spottiswoode & Connolly was founded in 1824 by Charles Spottiswoode and John Connolly. In 1849, after the death of John Connolly, the firm changed its name to William Spottiswoode and Company and had offices in Change Alley. [H2p253] In 1854, three Spottiswoodes are listed as partners in the Spottiswoode and Company : Archibald, Charles and William. Charles Spottiswoode was born in 1812 and died on 13 June 1858 and is buried in Fort Canning Christian Cemetery. Wm. Spottiswoode & Company were a member of the Board of the British Chamber of Commerce in Singapore in 1862.
