Updated: 31 May 2006 Notes: From 1841 to 1871 Thomas Cook organizes various tours both local, within Britain, Europe, America, Egypt etc. In 1871 Thomas Cook & Son is established in London by Thomas Cook and his son, John Mason Cook. In 1872 Thomas leads a group of 63 people on a round the world tour that lasted eight months and included a stop in Singapore. On 18 July 1892, Thomas Cook (83) died. In 1924 the firm becoms Thomas Cook & Son Ltd. In 1948 the firm becomes state owned but the name remains the same.
