Shaw, Whitehead and Co. founded about 1834 as the successor of the firm Graham, Mackenzie and Co. when on 31 December Mr. Colin Mackenzie left the firm. [B05p234]

John Horrocks Whitehead, a long time merchant in Singapore, died there on 21 September 1846 at age 36 years. [H02p15+258]

John Horrocks Whitehead was born 1808 in Lancashire England and died 1846 aged 36. He was buried at fort canning Singapore. He was married with 3 children and came from the family of Horrockses who founded the cotton industry. One of his sons my great grandfather was born in Singapore in 1842. In 1852 the name was changed to William Macdonald & Co. [B05p234]
