As the result of a global recession, the Oriental Bank Corporation ceased to operate on 3 May 1884.

8 June 1884, it was revived as the New Oriental Banking Corporation. [M04v2p596]

On 8 June 1892, due to fierce competition from other banks, the New Oriental Banking Corporation closed its doors and was liquidated.
