Updated: 8 Feb. 2007 Notes: Founded on 30 April 1842 by George Martin, Charles Carnie and Alexander Dyce when Paterson & Co. was cdissolved. [M04p205-6] [H2p181] Had branches in Batavia and Manila. [M04p205-6] Ceased in 1885. [M04p205-6] Alexander Dyce died 31 August 1848 at age 38 and is burried in Singapore. He was the firm's man on Manila. [H2p181] Formed out of the firm of Paterson and Co. by principals George Martin, Charles Carnie and Alexander Dyce, with houses at Singapore, Batavia and Manila. The managers in 1880 included J. Y. Kennedy, who migrated to Penang and there founded Kennedy and Co.; perhaps this led to the demise of the firm, which came to an end in 1885. In the 1880’s it had held the agency for the Glen Line.
