- John G. Brinkmann, a Brit, and Ernest Nikolaus Kuempers, a German, were partners in the firm Brinkmann Kuempers & Co. they established in 1867. [B02] [H06p402]
- The partnership was dissolved in 1876 when Brinkmann, along with the Manchester textile firm of Hiltermann Bros., founded the firm of Brinkmann & Co. Ernest Nikolaus Kuempers then opened a firm under the style of Kuempers & Co. in 1876. [H06p402]
- Ernest Nikolaus Kuempers was German and his firm was closed when WWI commenced in 1914.
