Notes:

  • Gustav Kaltenbach (1824-1913) was from Laufen in Germany near the Swiss boarder. In 1858 he founded the firm of G. Kaltenbach & Co. He left Singapore, in 1865, for Paris where he opened a buying office. He ran the firm from there. [H06p308 & 400]
  • In 1861 Kaltenbach made Fred Engler (1833-1913) a partner and the firm became Kaltenbach, Engler & Co. [L02 table C]. [H06p308, 398 & 400]
  • In 1865 Fred Engler went to Saigon and established a branch of Kaltenbach, Engler & Co. [H06p400]
  • In 1869 he went to the head office in Paris and conducted the firms Singapore and Saigon business from there. In 1871 he moved to Frankfurt am Main and conducted buying affairs for the two firms. [H06p308]
  • In 1879 Heinrich Fischer (1850-1908) and Heinrich Huber (1851-1900), both Swiss, became partners and the firm changed its name to Kaltenbach, Fischer & Co. [H06p401]
  • In 1888 H. Fischer and H. Huber took over the firm of Kaltenbach, Fischer & Co. and changed the name to Fischer, Huber & Co. [H06p401]
