Brother (younger?) of Dr. Robert Little, who as senior partner of Little and Robertson owned the Dispensary run by Robert Jamie. John Martin Little was a relative of F. S. Martin, a store-keeper and auctioneer, who in 1845 made over his business to Little and Cursetjee Fromerzee (son of Fromerzee Sorabjee, a Parsee merchant whose firm existed 1840-49) Little and Cursetjee dissolved in 1853 and when brother Matthew Little became a partner, John Little and Co. came into being. The premises never changed and in 1900 it became a limited company. J.M. Little died in 1894 at Blackheath two years after his brother Robert. The firm employed 25 Europeans in 1905.
