Dr. Robert Little was their brother, he arrived on 11 August 1840 [m01plate22] [M04p203-4] Up to 1 July 1853 the style of the firm was Little, Cursetjee & Co. at which time the partnership was dissolved [W5p681-684] [B05p350] Had a London office [W5p681-684] Became a limited company in 1894 [W5p681-684] Located at Raffles Square in Singapore. [G01] In July 1900 it became a limited company. [M04p203-4] [B05p350] General department store: wine & spirits, tinned foods, furniture, home furnishings, watches & clocks, books & stationery, guns, clothing [W5p681-684] Did a large mail order business by catalogue [W5p681-684] Had a furniture factory at Tanglin employing 150 craftsmen [W5p681-684] In 1955 the firm was acquire by Robinson & Co. Ltd. and continues to operate under the name John Little & Co. Ltd. Brother (younger?) of Dr. Robert Little, who as senior partner of Little and Robertson owned the Dispensary run by Robert Jamie. John Martin Little was a relative of F. S. Martin, a store-keeper and auctioneer, who in 1845 made over his business to Little and Cursetjee Fromerzee (son of Fromerzee Sorabjee, a Parsee merchant whose firm existed 1840-49) Little and Cursetjee dissolved in 1853 and when brother Matthew Little became a partner, John Little and Co. came into being. The premises never changed and in 1900 it became a limited company. J.M. Little died in 1894 at Blackheath two years after his brother Robert. The firm employed 25 Europeans in 1905.
