In 1918 the International Banking Corporation, a U.S. overseas bank, becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of National City Bank of New York. [see Citibank - timeline ]

The name changed from International Banking Corporation to First National Bank of New York (1955), then to First National City Bank (1962), bacame a subsidary of the holding company named First National City Corporation (1968), then the holding company changes its name to Citicorp (1974), Citibank.
