Established in 1873 by Scotsmen John Fraser nickname "the Jolly Octopus" for his good nature and diversified business interests. See Fraser & Neave Ltd.
Fraser & Co. became Fraser Securities Inc. which is the earliest Singapore stockbroker and one of the oldest and longest-lasting financial firms in the Far East. When the name changed to Fraser Securities Inc. is still not clear. Fraser & Co. is mentioned on the 1916 Jurors List.
In 1987 the firm became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fraser International Pte. Ltd. (FIPL). The company's name was subsequently changed to Fraser Roach & Co. Pte. Ltd.
