  • The 2 characters on the bottom is "Letter Office". I think this was a "Chinese Sub Post Office" as described in Proud's Malaya, Vol. 1 pp126. If you notice the picture on pp 130, the left characters on the sign (reading downwards) is the same 2 in the red hand stamp. The 3 large characters reading right to left is the name of the shop, typically in the center of the cancel and the top would read the English phonetic equivalent of the Company name. G095 seems to be a Teow-Chew phoenetic(ation) although Hokkien is also very close. Regards,Ed Tan
