Updated: 27 April 2007 Notes: From 1873 to 1883 he was the Singapore representative of the Hamburg firm of Fischer, Huber & Co. From 1896 to 1899 he was a partner in this firm dealing in the wholesale export of colonial foods. On 1 Oct. 1900, Anton Cadonau [1850 - 1929], a Swiss from Waltersburg, founded his firm Cadonau & Company when he took over the firm of Fisher, Huber & Co. [H06p315] In 1900 he managed his export firm from Paris. He represented the Nestle milk company in Singapore. [H06p315] He was one of he first shareholders in the Straits Trading Co. [H06p315] In 1906 his firm was amalgamated into Diethelm & Co. (Singapore and Zurich) In April 1906 arrangements are made for Diethelm & Co. to take over Cadonau & Co. importers of general piece goods. [H06p315] He continues as a shareholder an on the Board of Directors Diethelm & Co. in Zurich until 1918. [H06p315] He died in Ospedaletti in 1929 leaving an 11 Million Franc fortune.
