Notes:

Edward Boustead arrived in Singapore in 1828 and established his firm, Boustead & Co., not long afterwards [M01p239].

Helped establish the Singapore Free Press (1835) and the Mercantile Advertiser. [M01p239]

On January 1, 1834 it became Boustead, Schwabe and Company but in 1867 the old name, Boustead and Company was reinstate. [B05p207]

In 1846 there were four partners in Boustead, Schwabe and Company: Mr. Edward Boustead in China, Benjamine Butler in Manila, Gustave Christian Schwabe in Liverpool and Adam Sykes in Singapore. [B05p208]

In 1848, Mr. Schwabe left the firm. He died in Liverpool ca1896. [B05p208]

In 1849 the firm was styled Boustead & Co. [B05p208]

In 1850 Mr. Boustead returned to London and neber returned to Singapore. He died in London on 29 February 1888. [B05p208]
