- Ban Hin Lee Bank Berhad, became a private limited company on 17 September 1935.
- By the 1990s, the bank had spread throughout Malaysia and Singapore from its headquarters in Penang.
- on 1 July 2000, Southern Bank acquires Ban Hin Lee Bank Berhad
